Newport Rising Festival commemorates the 1839 Chartist Uprising, weaving culture with heritage to inspire young people to connect with their shared heritage and democracy today. It bridges past and present, empowering youth with Newport's democratic legacy and vibrant culture. The festival fosters collective action, celebrating the impact of our shared history and culture on shaping the future and a celebration of community and Newport today.

  • Newport Rising Hub is open year round in city centre, acts as heritage centre and community space

  • This election year will include campaigning and educational activities on voter ID and democracy

  • Schools workshops are delivered every year and educate while promoting the festival

  • We produce digital works and make available online to promote our work and Newport generally

  • We grow the festival in terms of participants and offer each year
