Cambridge Acorn Project Therapeutic Support for Traumatised Children and Families Living in Financial Distress
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

We deliver long-term holistic therapeutic treatment to children, young people and families who have experienced trauma, face financial hardship, and live in the most deprived areas of Cambridgeshire. The children we work with have experienced domestic abuse, sexual and/or physical abuse, and neglect. We work holistically providing quick access to street-level support through our community wellbeing hubs across Cambridgeshire and provide bespoke therapeutic packages.

Project Outcome Targets

Promote emotional recovery from trauma and abuse through bespoke holistic therapeutic support.

Reduce inequality and ensure children are living in safe homes through community Wellbeing Hubs.

Increase school attendance and engagement as an outcome of therapeutic and inequality work.

Project Activities

  • Wellbeing Hubs in local communities ensuring families can secure quick access to support.

  • Undertaking inequality assessment to ensure the right support is put in place.

  • Delivering bespoke therapeutic packages of support to promote emotional recovery.

  • Work schools and partner organisations to ensure greater access to enrichment to redress inequality.

  • Developing and researching innovative preventative mental health interventions.
