New Ways Educate children in Turkana, Northern Kenya
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Support children become well-educated and responsible adults in the future by covering the costs for all the necessary educational materials such as books, uniforms, and shoes for a primary school child attending a school of excellence. In semi-nomadic communities, children often forgo a formal education. Access is limited which means many children never get to fulfil their potential. By attending primary school, children get an opportunity to learn basic skills with some continuing education.

    Ensuring primary school children in remote and rural Turkana in Kenya have the basic materials for an education, especially girls who are less likely to attend school.

  • Number of beneficiaries - 200

    The total cost of educating a child for a year is £182.

Project Outcome Targets

To educate 200 children from semi-nomadic communities where formal education is often not undertaken

Impact more significantly on girls attending school as they are often less likely to attend school

Opportunity to learn basic skills but for some the basis for further learning & professions

Project Activities

  • We fund primary schools in Turkana in northern Kenya, providing and education for children.

  • This impacts on semi-nomadic communities who will often forgo formal education for children.

  • There is a greater impact on girls through these activities as they are less likely to attend school

  • Basic education but also the opportunity for some to study further & become professionals
