    For adults with mental health issues in Newport & with a focus on people from LGBTQ+ and Migrant communities. Groups will explore local heritage/history, building their connections with Newport. Journaling will be included to help improve wellbeing.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Our groups help people struggling with mental health to find a useful outlet in a safe and understanding environment. Exploring local history and heritage can help improve mental wellbeing, with a focus on our LGBTQ+ and Migrant communities. We are keen to expand our groups and reach more diverse communities within Newport in need of support. Journaling practise will also form part of the groups as it helps to improve mental wellbeing. Employ specialist staff member to run a range of heritage-based groups providing community support.

Activity Actions

  • Employ specialist wellbeing worker to run & coordinate groups. Provide group & one on one support.

  • Start the groups and promote to our services users and contacts to build awareness and attendance.

  • Scope out activities & get supplies for the heritage-based groups, maintain these throughout project

  • Explore locality, teach about Newport’s varied & interesting history, link with present communities

  • Provide a safe space for people struggling with mental health to get the help and support they need.
