Toc H Cooking school and business training for Bradford's NEET young people
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

We will offer a free skills development training programme (Tazza’s Cooking School) to 100 low-income/NEET young people living in and around the Bradford Moor area, offered through a partnership with Muslim-owned business Tazza Kitchen. This 12-week programme is tailored to young people seeking work in catering, customer service and business. Participants will receive cooking, customer service, entrepreneurship, business management and cashflow training from an NCFE-certified facilitator.

Project Outcome Targets

Circa 100 young people gain transferable skills and confidence required for future careers

80% participants report improved wellbeing, including improved mental health/self-esteem and new friendships

70% participants in employment, education or training at 3-month follow up

Project Activities

  • Offering customer service, entrepreneurship, business management and cashflow training

  • Offering training in cooking complex recipes and an understanding of heat control, ingredients & nutrition

  • Offering training in Food Standards Agency’s Safer Food, Better Business procedures and Food Hygiene Level 2

  • Taking referrals through mosques, schools, Bradford Council, and Volunteering Bradford

  • Signposting to specialist mental health/debt/housing services as required
