PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Barnardo’s Newport Connect already delivers successful Family Hubs and volunteer‑led support across other areas of Newport, demonstrating strong capability and proven impact. This project will build on our established model, expanding capacity to deliver consistent, high‑quality early help in Duffryn.

    The need was verified through investigation including direct consultation and engagement with families in local areas of Newport, who highlighted gaps in early help and community support.

    Accessible support, inclusion, reduced isolation and tailored activities.

Project Outcome Targets

Strengthen early help through a safe, welcoming hub offering wellbeing and family support.

Build community resilience by growing volunteer capacity and social connection.

Reduce isolation and improve outcomes for children, young people and families in Duffryn.

Project Activities

  • Deliver weekly hub sessions offering wellbeing, play and family support.

  • Provide 1:1 early help for parents, carers and children.

  • Recruit, train and supervise local volunteers.

  • Run workshops on confidence, budgeting and healthy living.

  • Organise family activities that build connection and reduce isolation.
