ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

The charity will run 3 cultural events thus Zimbabwe day on 20th April at Pil Millenium centre, Africa day on the 26th May at Rodney Parade and Black History Month on the 26th October at Maindee school. Events will celebrate Black History and African cultures while broadening understanding & knowledge of Newport residents of the African cultures which have built Newport. The events will feature African drumming, poetry, story telling, fashion show, films, free food, talks, art exhibitions, etc

Activity goals

The communities of Newport will be united & cohesion while migrants will be integrated into Newport

Promote children and young people to participate in arts and take them off the streets decrease ASB

2000 people will receive info on social groups, arts groups and theatre companies based in Newport

Activity Actions

  • At Zimbabwe day migrants will take up volunteering and setting up businesses, when info provided.

  • The Africa day will promote Newport as a culturally city & attract visitors and investors to economy

  • Africa Day promote arts, build new frienships & combat isolation & loneliness, united communities

  • Black History Month educates Newport residents about Black culture linking it with Welsh Heritage

  • Black History Month will run educational workshops in schools, community centres and youth clubs
