    Adults and young people aged 16+ living in Newport who are not currently accessing learning opportunities, including disadvantaged and minority groups, to promote diversity, inclusion and increase access to opportunities.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project will facilitate a series of workshops and courses to support health and wellbeing across Newport's most deprived areas. Subjects will focus on healthy eating and preparing warm nutritious meals, sewing skills to promote repairing and reusing garments, and cultural awareness through global festive crafts. The project will aim to engage with residents who are not currently accessing learning opportunities in Newport, breaking down barriers to opportunity and building confidence.

Project Outcome Targets

Improved access to activities for a minimum of 50 new learners, prioritising disadvantaged groups.

Adults in Newport gain confidence and increase health and wellbeing through participation.

Environmental and cultural awareness is increased through cross-cutting themes.

Project Activities

  • Liaise with community groups and services in Newport to reach new learners, increasing engagement.

  • Learners will increase their health and wellbeing, learning how to prepare nutritious meals.

  • Learners will learn sewing skills to repair and reuse garments, reducing landfill waste.

  • Learners will increase their cultural awareness through attending global festive craft workshops.

  • Deliver a minimum of 4 15-hour courses and a minimum of 4 5-hour workshops.
