ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

There are 1.4 million people in the UK who have a learning disability, yet, just 5% are in paid employment. - Disabled young people aged 16-18 were at least twice as likely as their non-disabled peers to be not in education, employment or training - By the age of 26, disabled people are four times more likely to be out of work compared to non-disabled people We work with children and young people aged 11-26 with disabilities and autism to enable them to overcome the barriers to employment

Activity goals

Pupils receive a World of Work visit while still at primary school

Pupils aged 16-19 prepare for work by taking on a task-based placement with an employer

Young adults post full-time education receive the support and guidance of a job coach

  • We deliver regular employability masterclasses with employers

  • Job coach & employment broker supports young people with skills and confidence to gain employment
