PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Orient Minds is a 12-month, physical activity-based mental health programme supporting up to 50 young people aged 12–17 over a year, experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The project provides free, inclusive physical activity sessions in a safe, supportive environment. A full-time Project Officer will oversee recruitment, delivery, monitor outcomes, and ensure each participant receives personalised support, including mentoring, and group workshops.

    Aged 12-17 in the local community experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, including anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, and difficulties with emotional regulation. Other difficulties e.g. isolation, poverty or school disengagement.

Project Outcome Targets

Participation and Retention – 50 children and young people will regularly attend weekly physical activity sessions

70% of participants will demonstrate measurable improvement in self-esteem, confidence and emotional regulation

70% of participants will engage demonstrate growth in teamwork, communication, resilience and goal-setting

Project Activities

  • Free Weekly inclusive physical activity sessions promoting mental and physical wellbeing of participants

  • Small-group and one-to-one support to build confidence and emotional resilience with Trauma-informed coaching embedded.

  • Helping participants gain life skills through Game Changer, supporting education and future employability.

  • Providing access to trusted adult support and role models, free access to sessions, equipment and travel support.

  • Providing opportunity for participants to socially interact reducing isolation and develop positive peer relationships.
