    Weekly Dance: inviting CYP from deprived communities to weekly dance classes, creating pathways for CYP displaying talent. Boys Dance: Getting more male identifying CYP into dance through dance 4 intensives & working with professional male dancers.

  • People with Disabilities

    Inclusive Ballet: Weekly dance classes for disabled &neurodivergent CYP, recruited through workshops in 10 schools. Accessible performances: Buying Audio Description equipment to host workshops &performances for blind/visually impaired people.

  • People Of A Particular Ethnic Or Racial Origin

    Community Dance Days: 4 events that specifically target global majority communities for families to dance, eat, draw &connect. Roma Group: Continue to build on our partnership with the Romani community by providing increased dance opportunities.

  • Adults

    Adult Ballet Intensives: 4 weekend intensives for adults to explore dance &ballet through Welsh language &with focus on wellbeing. Guided Tours: 3 visits with visually impaired groups &engaging them in our touch tours &audio described performances

  • Other Charities or Voluntary Bodies

    Working with other like-minded charities who share our ethos of inclusion is important, and working with the Romani Cultural and Arts Company, Newport Mind, and Sparkle helps us share dance to a wider community of people.

  • The General Public / Mankind

    Accessible performances: Enables us to connect to a wider audience. Offering 3 Touch Tours and 3 Audio Described performances at our Newport performances (May, November, December 2024) helps us better serve and include more people in our work.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

NEWport Dance is a new engagement programme for marginalised groups and communities in Newport, focused on access and inclusion. A series of bespoke and tailored dance engagement offers, the programme addresses very real barriers in engaging with dance and the arts. NEWport Dance will deliver dance activities to help encourage communities to feel happier, healthier, supported, and welcome.
