PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Duffryn Thrive Focuses on supporting residents through wellbeing sessions outdoor play, environmental stewardship, and practical hands on learning . The programme builds confidence, improves access to learning, and creates pathways into employment by developing core skills and accredited training. In partnership with Tredegar Park Primary school It provides family and child support through inclusive outdoor play opportunities, creative workshops, and safe spaces that nurture development and resilience. With Duffryn Community centre we will establish a community learning café, providing volunteers with a valuable workplace experience that fosters pride, connection, and opportunity

    Targeted sessions for children and young people, including outdoor play, wellbeing support, and skills development, alongside development of safe spaces that build confidence, resilience, & pathways into learning and future opportunities

  • People in poverty

    Duffryn Thrive supports people in poverty by linking to the community pantry, building trust and access. It boosts confidence, skills, and job prospects through training, safe spaces, family support, and real work experience in the café.

  • Environment

    The environment benefits through stewardship activities like gardening, recycling, and outdoor learning. These improve green spaces, boost biodiversity, reduce waste, and encourage sustainable habits within the community.

  • Marginalised or vulnerable groups

    Marginalised people, especially those with poor mental health, gain safe spaces, support, and outdoor activities that reduce stress. Skills, routine, and volunteering build confidence, resilience, and pathways into training and work.

  • Community

    The community benefits through stronger connections, shared spaces, and inclusive activities. Improved skills and employment prospects boost the local economy, while the café and projects increase pride, wellbeing, and long-term resilience.

  • Unemployed

    Unemployed people gain skills, accredited training, and hands-on experience through volunteering. They build confidence, improve employability, access support networks, and progress into education, training, or sustainable employment.

  • Wellbeing sessions: mindfulness, meditation, yoga, Creativity and family workshops

  • Environmental stewardship: clean-ups & woodland care with a 'Duffryn in Bloom' gardens initiative

  • Community and family events to improve community cohesion and wellbeing
