Engaging Roma Youth in Arts and Culture
The Roma community is one of the most disadvantaged groups in Newport and the rest of the UK with poorer education outcomes, health outcomes and employment prospects. They face daily, ongoing discrimination.
This is an ambitious number for a 1 year project.
We will use £30,000 over 1 year to establish a ground-breaking project in Newport which will provide up to 30 Roma young aged 16-25 years old with regular weekly music and drama-based cultural workshops, facilitated by experienced artists and community members. We will engage with a range of local organisations to secure representation at each and every workshop. The young people will engage successfully with cultural activities. The local economy will benefit from increased Roma engagement.

We will have fortnightly community voice sessions and team meetings, quarterley trustees meetings.
