Could you inspire a child to read?
We are a registered charity which recruits, trains and supports reading mentors to work 1-1 with children in primary schools across the county. We have a growing network of over 300 volunteers working in over 120 Oxfordshire schools supporting around 1000 children every year. Our reading mentors volunteer for a few hours per week, during term time. It is important that the children we work with have continuity and stability, volunteers need to commit to be dedicated and reliable.
There is still a link between social class and educational achievement. ARCh helps children develop a love of reading enhancing their lives at school and beyond, to go on to make a positive contribution to society and achieve economic well-being.
