    Aims to engage 18-25 year olds who have lived experience with ill mental health, or struggles with wellbeing. We are currently working with two groups of 9 and 4, totalling 13 altogether over 10 months.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Part of the Mental Wealthy Academy, The Mental Health Ambassador programme brings together a group of young people aged 18-25 who have lived experience of mental health difficulties, and teaches them to support the community. Over the course of 10 months, each cohort of young ambassadors will participate in training; covering a wide range of topics: building resilience, learning coping techniques, leadership skills, safeguarding, elements of mental health first aid, and will lead workshops.

Activity goals

For our Ambassadors to gain confidence around topics including Mental Health and Wellbeing

Self-development: To increase their leadership and presentation skills as individuals

To break the stigma around mental health, in their own minds and in the minds of the YP they reach

Activity Actions

  • Introduction to Mental Health & Mental Health resilience training

  • Training in Safeguarding and Navigating mental health services

  • Principles of Youth Work training

  • Ambassadors will run workshops for 11-17 year olds and need to reach out to 400 young people each

  • Ambition: To create a mini-series of mental health problems affecting young people aged 11-17.
