ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Building a library in Kenya is never easy, but as for everyone the pandemic makes everything much harder. Yet we managed to build 2 libraries in 2020. Our next partner community is located in Msambweni, Kwale County Kenya. Over 1,000 community children are waiting for their adventure in books to begin and we are determined to make that happen. The transformation of the entire community happens almost immediately. We are £5,000 short of our £15,000 target and really need your help.

Activity goals

Build a new library for new community partner, stocked with 5,000 books catering for 1500 children.

To donate 35,000 books to other projects enabling 250,000 readers access to books.

To launch and operate our developmental activities for Msambweni children.

Activity Actions

  • To collect, process and ship 40,000 books and other items in July 2021.

  • To convert the container into the community library and learning centre.

  • To train librarians and committee members in operating libraries and running activities.

  • To include the new community in our developmental activities such as annual Young Writer Competition

  • To donate books to carefully vetted organisations and schools.

The SCCF funds most of our developmental activities in 2021, and the construction of 2 LLs in 2020.
