Newport Live NISV Regional Pool - Easy Access Pool Steps

    This project will allow individuals who have a mobility issues easy access to enter the pool. A set of Easy access steps would allow individuals to enter and leave the pool independently.

  • People with Disabilities

    This project will allow individuals in Newport who have a disability easy access to enter the Regional Pool. A set of Easy access steps would allow individuals to enter and leave the pool independently.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Newport Live is committed to reducing the barriers to physical activity. Easy access pool steps would allow individuals with disabilities and older people with mobility issues easy access into the Regional Pool at NISV. The Easy access steps would allow individuals to access the pool with dignity and importantly independently.

Project Outcome Targets

To reduce the barrier of access to physical activity opportunities.

Improve the health and wellbeing of people with disabilities and older people with mobility issues.

Reduce social isolation by offering opportunities for social interaction.

Project Activities

  • Specific sessions for older people. Promotion through the Newport 50+ Forum.

  • Specific sessions for people with disabilities. Partnerships with Newport Access Group.

  • Specific sessions for National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS) Groups

  • Increase awareness of accessible facilities for aquatic activities

  • Share awareness with schools and groups, including Maes Ebbw School & Serennu Centre.
