PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project proposes the installation of a temporary, pop-up padel tennis courts on an unused outdoor tennis court at Newport Tennis Centre. Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in Europe, combining elements of tennis and squash. The courts will activate recreational space, create new opportunities for inclusive physical activity, and encourage community engagement through structured programming, open play, and school/youth outreach sessions.

Project Outcome Targets

Install a temporary padel courts by Autumn 25 on an existing outdoor tennis space to assess demand.

Deliver community taster sessions including partnerships with local schools, clubs and residents.

Enable open public bookings and structured weekly programmes, ensuring a broad range of availability

  • Increase the number of inactive poeple participating in racquet sports in a social setting.
