PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Grow@School aims to merge agriculture with education to build resilient & food-secure societies. Students, teachers, & their communities learn about sustainable nutrition & healthy food choices through the specially curated curriculum. Students also experiment with indoor farming & learn about STEM concepts. Some important outcomes of the programme include growing organically to save biodiversity, water conservation, reduction in meat consumption, supporting small & local businesses, etc.

Project Outcome Targets

Engaging with topics like soil, carbon footprints, biodiversity & conservation over the year

Learning about the importance of local food production & consumption to reduce food wastage

Students learn important STEM concepts such as design, technology, english, and math

Project Activities

  • Setting up of the hydroponic towers and enriched curriculum with activities

  • Expert talks based on the 4 thematic areas for the term (soil management, biodiversity, etc.)

  • Food is grown in an environment-friendly & sustainable manner

  • Students observe & learn about how plants grow, how to look after them, & record their observations

  • Once the crops are harvested, parent-pupil cooking events and farmers' markets are organised
