    Our free weekly dance sessions for older people will bring people together from deprived backgrounds. They will enjoy dancing to upbeat Caribbean & African music. Our dances are low to medium intensity, which allows people of all abilities to join in

  • People with Disabilities

    Many of our dancers suffer with cognitive issues brought on through menopause such as anxiety and dementia. Caribeatz at our safe Hyb will have a tremendous impact in tackling isolation and mental health issues

  • People Of A Particular Ethnic Or Racial Origin

    Our dance and music genres such as Meringue, Calypso, Soca & Gospel is a celebration of Windrush & the cultural contributions Caribbean people brought to Wales. It’s upbeat creative dance will bring together all cultures in our fabulous Welsh City.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Caribeatz is a new cultural dance experience & employment/volunteering programme. It will offer Level 2 Accredited Dance qualifications to older people who want to build a career in Cultural Performing Arts. We will create an, ‘inclusive community,’ of dancers in Newport going through menopausal stages. It will enhance the cultural and historical identity of many of our dancers who are of the Windrush Generation. Caribeatz will bring an exciting dance experience to all cultures.

Improve overall physical/mental well-being in the 40+ community going through menopause

Offer free’ creative dance sessions & CPD Level 2 accredited dance qualifications for older people

Recruit 2 part-time staff & volunteers from communities who are often excluded in the job market

Activity Actions

  • Our members, volunteers, staff & beneficiaries are from diverse backgrounds.

  • We run free workshops with our partner agencies and collect feedback to help us to engage with them

  • We train our 50+ group in dance and leadership skills to gain confidence to perform at live events

  • We are writing a dance programme of study with the Leadership Skills Foundation & CPD Group.
