    Our free open-air dance events/visits for older people are expressive and will make great connections with Welsh folk dance. Families will enjoy dancing to upbeat Caribbean genres and gain valuable education from some of our Windrush Elders.

  • People with Disabilities

    Many of our dancers suffer with cognitive issues, such as anxiety and dementia. The fresh air and physical dance combination will have a tremendous impact in tackling these inequalities, such as loneliness & social isolation.

  • People Of A Particular Ethnic Or Racial Origin

    Our dance & music genres such as Meringue, Calypso & Gospel is a celebration of the contributions Caribbean people brought to Wales. Historical visits and upbeat creative dance are the perfect combination to bring people together in our local area.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

FootprintZ is a new & exciting outside Project for older people. It will bring together traditional Caribbean dances (e.g Calypso, Meringue) as well as offer opportunities to explore & enjoy the beautiful heritage sites such as Newport Wetlands. Our open-air workshops at parks & historical places will give Welsh communities an opportunity to join in with our vibrant dances. It also offers Accredited CPD training/workshops in relation to the historical identity of traditional Caribbean dance

Activity goals

Introduce Welsh communities to our creative dance to enhance the identity of our Caribbean dancers

Improve physical & mental well-being for adults by dancing in beautiful open-air spaces.

Offer accredited CPD dance workshops at various heritage sites in our local area.

  • Pre-visits & collecting surveys to see interest in our dance workshops/events at Newport sites

  • Offering taster workshops to our partner agencies and collecting feedback to improve future events

  • Members, volunteers, staff & beneficiaries are from diverse backgrounds.

  • Training our 50+ dance volunteers to perform at live open-air events
