    As part of the Outline project, we will provide free access to live music as well as to music workshops, support from industry experts and practical advice and insight for a career in the live music industry.

  • The General Public / Mankind

    Over 9 months, the project will deliver 24 free live gigs across the city centre’s core grassroots venues – curated by the Outline team, operating from The Corn Exchange. The aim? To further support bringing people back into the heart of Newport.

  • Artists & cultural participants

    This project is also about building the future of music in Newport. Alongside the live events, a year-long programme of workshops and expert-led panels will offer aspiring musicians – of all ages and backgrounds – real insight and practical skills.

  • Adults

    All workshop sessions are designed to strengthen Newport’s music infrastructure from the ground up, offering invaluable opportunities for collaboration, learning and professional growth for people of all ages and abiltiiies across the city.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Outline is an ambitious new project set to further reinvigorate Newport’s live music scene — bringing more gigs, nurturing the city’s creative talent, and building on the success of the Newport Music Trail to create a lasting cultural impact throughout the year. This project is about building the future of music in Newport. Alongside the live events, a year-long programme of workshops and expert-led panels will offer aspiring musicians – of all ages and backgrounds – real industry insight.

Project Outcome Targets

Further the work to revitalise Newport’s city centre and wider communities through live music.

Support creative and music education and lifelong learning. Teach basic musical skills.

Help to position Newport as a destination for touring bands again to drive tourism and the economy.

  • Furthering the work to place Newport back on the map as a must-visit destination for live music.
