PROJECT DESCRIPTION

We would like to offer weekly evening circus workshops for our community. These free-to-attend workshops will provide a relaxed environment for individuals to meet new people, try something new and experience a sense of accomplishment by breaking down circus skills into achievable tasks. The focus of the workshops will be to reduce social isolation, increase community cohesion by bringing groups together, and improve wellbeing through positive, enjoyable experiences.

Project Outcome Targets

Reduced social isolation through a safe space to connect with others and develop a shared interest

Increased resilience by encouraging positive risk taking and perseverance to learn a fun skill

Improved wellbeing due to dedicated time to focus solely on the skill being practiced (mindfulness)

Project Activities

  • Provide weekly workshop to teach circus skills, such as juggling, flower stick, tightwire, poi, etc.

  • Promote social interaction during activities by adopting relaxed structure and social break times.

  • Work with charities/support groups to actively promote sessions among marginalised/vulnerable groups

  • Understand attendees' goals and tailor workshop plans to help them achieve these goals.

  • Share related opportunities to build confidence, such as formal classes or performance opportunities

MONEY We are seeking funding to cover instructor costs, venue hire, equipment and consumables, insurance and marketing costs. We need to secure £5,580 to cover these costs and deliver the workshops for approximately 4 months. 31/07/2025 Without this funding, the project will not be able to take place.
