Educational theatre workshops and performances for schools and community
Her Story Theatre Company seeks funding to deliver a free programme of educational theatre performances and workshops for schools in Duffryn and surrounding areas. Aimed at Key Stages 1–5, it features three original plays tailored to curriculum and age: Daughter of Bala (KS1/2), about pioneering nurse Betsi Cadwaladr; Doreen’s Big Catch (KS2), an environmental puppetry piece inspired by the River Wye's most famous salmon fisherwoman; and Pianoforte (KS4/5), exploring Chartism through the eyes of Mary Frost. All performances, workshops, and community events will be provided entirely free, ensuring inclusive access for students, families, and the wider community.
Supporting early development, education & engagement of school age children. The visual & engaging nature of the workshops will be accessible to all & bring local history to life. The approach has been successfully piloted with positive evaluation.
The pupils of Tredegar Park Primary will not only make props, act and rehearse but will put on performances for their families. Every child will be involved. This will create a sense of pride in the community and improve well-being.
