JOY STEPS Duffryn Creative Enterprise Lab
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Duffryn Creative Enterprise Lab is a 12-week skills programme for Duffryn residents aged 16–35, helping participants develop visual design, creative thinking, and micro-enterprise skills. Through hands-on workshops in collage, art journaling, and digital design, participants will build portfolios, learn how to turn creative ideas into sellable products, and explore pathways into employment or self-employment.

Beneficiaries

  • Children / Young People

    Young people aged 16–21 in Duffryn will gain creative enterprise skills, confidence, and practical experience through workshops, helping them build portfolios, develop employability skills, and explore pathways into further training, work.

  • Unemployed

    Unemployed Duffryn residents will benefit from practical creative skills training, portfolio development, and enterprise guidance that improves employability, builds confidence, and opens pathways into freelance work, further education.

  • People in poverty

    Residents experiencing poverty will gain access to free training, creative enterprise skills, and opportunities to develop products and portfolios, helping them explore income-generating activities and improve long-term employment prospects.

  • People Of A Particular Ethnic Or Racial Origin

    People from ethnically and culturally diverse communities in Duffryn will benefit from inclusive creative training that supports self-expression, builds skills, and provides pathways into employment and enterprise within the creative sector.

Project Activities

  • Weekly creative enterprise workshops teaching art journaling, collage, and design skills.

  • Portfolio development sessions to build CV-ready creative work and personal branding.

  • Enterprise training covering pricing, selling, freelancing, and micro-business basics.

  • Community showcase and market event where participants present and sell their work.
