PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Roots to Rise is a community-driven initiative empowering ethnic minority parents in Newport through connection, cultural pride, and practical support. At its heart is a welcoming Parent Hub—a safe space to share experiences, access tools to strengthen family life, and build confidence through peer circles, storytelling, workshops, and local services. It reduces isolation and nurtures healing, wellbeing, and opportunity.

70% of parents report increased confidence in parenting, communication, and self-advocacy

Reduce isolation—80% of participants build at least 2 new peer relationships in the Hub.

Deliver a series of Parent Hub sessions/activities with 90% satisfaction and consistent attendance

Project Activities

  • Deliver series of peer support circles for ethnic minority parents.

  • 1:1 and Group Wellbeing Support - access to mental health check-ins, mentoring and facilitated group

  • Storytelling sessions celebrating cultural heritage.

  • Community walks, meetups and Showcases to curb isolation

  • Guest talks on mental health and family well-being.
