H.E.A.L. - Henrie's Empowerment for Awareness and Life Green Futures Derbyshire
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Green Futures Derbyshire will empower underserved residents with practical green skills while helping local communities reduce carbon emissions, waste&improve biodiversity. The project combines environmental action with employability support through community workshops, volunteer opportunities&accredited skills training. The project will prioritise unemployed adults, young people not in education or employment, people with disabilities, carers, ethnic minority communities&residents living in areas of deprivation. The project will contribute to Derbyshire Economic Sustainability&DDICB NHS Net Zero priorities through Green Skills Workshops, Community Biodiversity Days

Beneficiaries

  • Children / Young People

    Children and young people will gain practical green skills, improve confidence, take part in nature activities, support biodiversity projects and develop pathways into volunteering, training and future employment.

  • Elderly / Old People

    Older people will benefit from social gardening, repair cafés and green activities that reduce isolation, improve wellbeing, encourage physical activity and strengthen community connections.

  • People with Disabilities

    People with disabilities will participate in adapted environmental activities, enhancing confidence, social inclusion, practical skills and opportunities for volunteering, education and work.

  • People Of A Particular Ethnic Or Racial Origin

    People from diverse/underrepresented ethnic communities will access inclusive green skills training, volunteering and employment support, improving wellbeing, social inclusion, economic opportunities and reducing barriers to participation and work.

  • Other Charities or Voluntary Bodies

    Local charities/voluntary groups will access shared resources, training&partnership opportunities,benefit from collaborative working, volunteer development,shared green initiatives, increasing local impact&supporting long-term community resilience

Project Outcome Targets

Environmental;Create greener communities through waste reduction, tree planting and biodiversity.

Health; Improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and encourage healthy, active, sustainable lifestyles.

Economic: 120 residents trained,50 get support, 20 progress to work/training, 40 involved in volunteering.

Project Activities

  • Green Skills Workshops;Monthly workshops covering recycling, energy saving, gardening, repair and green skills.

  • Community Biodiversity Days-Volunteer sessions to plant trees, build habitats and enhance green community spaces.

  • Employability Support; Support with CVs, interviews, volunteering, green careers and employer networking.

  • Waste Reduction Programme; Repair cafés, swap shops, clothes repair and upcycling workshops in the community.
