Green Futures Derbyshire
Green Futures Derbyshire will empower underserved residents with practical green skills while helping local communities reduce carbon emissions, waste&improve biodiversity. The project combines environmental action with employability support through community workshops, volunteer opportunities&accredited skills training. The project will prioritise unemployed adults, young people not in education or employment, people with disabilities, carers, ethnic minority communities&residents living in areas of deprivation. The project will contribute to Derbyshire Economic Sustainability&DDICB NHS Net Zero priorities through Green Skills Workshops, Community Biodiversity Days
Children and young people will gain practical green skills, improve confidence, take part in nature activities, support biodiversity projects and develop pathways into volunteering, training and future employment.
Older people will benefit from social gardening, repair cafés and green activities that reduce isolation, improve wellbeing, encourage physical activity and strengthen community connections.
People with disabilities will participate in adapted environmental activities, enhancing confidence, social inclusion, practical skills and opportunities for volunteering, education and work.
People from diverse/underrepresented ethnic communities will access inclusive green skills training, volunteering and employment support, improving wellbeing, social inclusion, economic opportunities and reducing barriers to participation and work.
Local charities/voluntary groups will access shared resources, training&partnership opportunities,benefit from collaborative working, volunteer development,shared green initiatives, increasing local impact&supporting long-term community resilience
