Green Community Champions Programme
The Green Community Champions Programme will recruit and train local volunteers from underserved communities to become "Green Champions." They will lead neighbourhood sustainability initiatives, support residents to adopt low carbon lifestyles, improve local environments, and connect people with green skills, volunteering, and employment opportunities. Rather than delivering workshops alone, the project creates a network of local champions who continue supporting their communities beyond the grant period. Unlike traditional workshop based projects, this model builds community leadership and long term local capacity. the project creates a sustainable legacy
Children and young people will engage in biodiversity, recycling and sustainability projects, improving wellbeing, teamwork, environmental knowledge and pathways into training or employment.
Older people will participate in community planting, litter picks and sustainability events, reducing loneliness while helping create cleaner, healthier neighbourhoods.
Adults will engage in community sustainability projects, develop leadership and green skills, improve wellbeing and access pathways into volunteering, education and employment.
Voluntary and community groups will strengthen their capacity through Green Champion partnerships, shared resources, volunteer support and collaborative environmental projects.
People from underrepresented ethnic groups will benefit from tailored green skills, leadership opportunities and community projects that promote inclusion and employment pathways.
