Newport Fire Basketball Club Fire FamBasket

Beneficiaries

  • Children / Young People

This introduction to basketball in a fun welcoming environment provides a regular outlet, the health and mental benefits of exercise and they opportunity to form new positive relationships.

  • Community

Giving young people a regular outlet, positive role models and a community they feel part of will reduce the risk of them turning to anti-social behaviour and crime.

  • Adults

As busy adults, it can be difficult to find time to exercise around work and parenting responsibilities. Having an activity that includes parents/guardians can provide that exercise and also the opportunity to form new relationships.

  • Number of beneficiaries - 30

We can comfortably cater for 30 individuals for per hour.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Fire FamBasket is a FREE weekly after-school activity consisting of two hours of basketball stripped right back to its rawest form. No age groups, no skills, no drills. Turn up on your own, with a relative, friend, carer, grab a ball and have fun! Volunteers and club players will be on hand to help and chat to attendees. Pillgwenlly has a young demographic we could support but sadly the area suffers with social deprivation and a high crime rate. This activity will support this community!
