The Heart Of The City
The Heart of the City celebrates the people of Newport through public art that inspires pride, connection and reflection. It promotes wellbeing, unites communities, and leaves a lasting legacy honouring the city’s true strength—its people
The project will benefit local freelancers contributing to its creation while supporting Connor’s growth as an artist working in public art.
Connor will lead workshops with children and young people, exploring what Newport means to them and embedding their voices and values into the final artwork.
Reach of the work will be the whole of Newport
What's the true heart of the city? For me, At the heart of Newport are its people — the characters, faces, and communities that give the city its pulse. This public art installation is a love letter to them: a celebration of resilience, connection, and hope. Life is a puzzle, and through our shared experiences, we help one another find missing pieces. This work aims to offer those pieces — hope, empowerment, and love — to the people who make Newport, Newport.
