Girls Just Want to Have Fun
Statistics show that only 10% of girls aged 13-16 meet Government recommended activity levels. Coupled to the fact that very few Cricket Clubs offer Cricket for Girls, the programme aims to promote equal opportunity, increasing Girls participation
Target groups will be U10, U12 and U14 girls
Equality and social inclusion are key areas of Newport Cricket Club's mission statement - although boys have easy access to Cricket, for Girls the opportunities are few and far between, as there is very little Cricket played in local Schools. The ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ Cricket Programme will address the gender imbalance giving Girls an equal opportunity to play Cricket, creating a vibrant Girls Cricket section at the Club, giving Girls from across the City the opportunity to play Cricket.
