PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The first hackathon, and the overarching project, have the goal of creating a social value data platform with easy to access, credible & transparent data. The first hackathon is a one-week event where a prototype of this data platform is created - with a focus on economic inequality & equal opportunity and Plymouth. This initial pilot hackathon is intended to ‘inform and excite’ ultimately supporting a wider business case to resource a fully scaled UK wide open-source social value data platform.

Project Outcome Targets

To create a data platform prototype aligned with Gov. Social Value Model and the PPN 06/20 themes.

Prototype focused on Plymouth as an example, engaging with Plymouth council for future reference.

Create a plan & structure for the project going forward: ownership, licensing & next steps.

Project Activities

  • Steering group identify the starting point for this project: social value needs, datasets & areas.

  • Collect datasources and get the hackathon technically set up.

  • Data scientist and coders complete the hackathon - create data visualisations & prototype platform.

  • Steering group create a future development plan for the product and project.

  • Create communication materials and plan to get more resources & funding for the next stages.
