ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Models will be displaying clothing from various African cultures. Refreshments and diverse foods will be available and there will be a raffle too. The show will be an opportunity to showcase different costumes, music and food from across Africa. The event will be accessible to all members of the community. Transport will be organised from a central location to help with accessibility. We will partner with local organisations and food banks to redistribute any surplus food to those in need.

To promote accessibility to ethnic minority communities in Newport and promotion of arts and culture

Promote viewing the world through textiles and consider the relationships between fabric & culture.

Activity Actions

  • Fashion show - runway - showcase up to 10 cultural costumes from across Africa with a quiz activity

  • 2 x Motivational speakers from Newport with an opportunity for Q&A. Promote positive role models.

  • Craft workshop to teach children and youth how to make African and Caribbean art.

  • Host a food fair featuring dishes from different African and Caribbean traditions, with taster opps.

  • Family entertainment (bouncy castle, face painting and Origami) and general wellbeing info stalls.
