PROJECT DESCRIPTION

First ever afro hair show in Wales which will help with the difficulty some groups face when accessing hairdressing training tailored to Black hair amid a shortage of salons across Wales. Some of our service users highlighted that people don’t realise how needed salons for black hairstyles are. We want to help develop knowledge and understanding of relevant hair types and understanding around the differences in caring for afro-textured hair while considering the use of appropriate Hair vocab.

Project Outcome Targets

Provide people with afro textured hair an opportunity to engage with afro hair stylists and training

Provide taster haircare workshops for general public. Wash & set, braids, weaves, crochet, dreads

Provide hair care and protective styles tips and information linked to Antirac Hair & Beauty module

Project Activities

  • 7x taster haircare workshops Wash & set, braids, weaves, crochet, dreads, natural styles. 30 mins ea

  • Information stalls with hair care tips and local afro hair salons and stores to help with access

  • Stalls with Black owned businesses, stylists and training opportunities, courses on afro hair

  • Motivational speakers on natural hair care, artistic hair displays and designs

  • Promote cost effective hair care products and protective head covering, barbering and threading
