Beneficiaries

  • Children / Young People

Tŷ Hafan supports children with life-shortening conditions and their families. Children and young people are described as living with a life-shortening condition if they are not expected to live beyond 18 years of age.

  • People with Disabilities

Tŷ Hafan supports many referred children with profound learning difficulties and complex needs, children who are non-verbal, wheelchair users and children who may be developmentally delayed.

Our Vision for a better future

  • Between 2009 and 2019, over half (53%) of all child deaths in Wales were deaths of children with a life-shortening condition. Tŷ Hafan’s vision is to create a Wales where every child with a life-shortening condition lives a fulfilling life, supported close to home with the compassion and specialist care that they and their family need.

Our goals to make a difference

  • We aim for every family in Wales facing a child’s premature death to have access to timely, skilled care in their preferred setting - at the hospice, or at home

  • Every child with a life-shortening condition should live a fulfilling life, supported close to home with the compassion and specialist care that they need

  • 90% of families in Wales with a child facing a shortened life are not receiving the essential support that they need. We want to be there for these families

  • Key to achieving our goal of supporting every family who needs us, is to offer a significant increase in our community-based palliative care services
