Our History

  • In 2000, UD was co-founded with a group of hip-hop artists, our work was seeded by the Arts Council. The charity was set up in 2012. We provide talented young people with the resources and space to create and explore their potential, so that those who make and love Black Music can thrive and be recognised as equal to their counterparts.

Areas of Operation

  • England: Kent

Beneficiaries

  • Children / Young People

We prioritise young people aged 14-25, who are facing socio-economic deprivation, supporting them to develop sustainable careers within the global commercial music industry. Our main targets are defined as 'BAME' and from low income households.

Our Vision for a better future

  • We are passionate about seeking out the potential for excellence in every young person we encounter. Aligning professionalism and business acumen with an understanding of youth and subculture, we run industry-led events, artist development and employment support programmes. After 21 years, we want to nurture a new generation of music creatives.

Our goals to make a difference

  • To equip the young people with the high quality tools to gain access to the creative industries.

  • To provide bespoke pre-vocational training and education for 14 – 17+ year olds.

  • Offer Post-18 training and education in partnership with further and higher education institutions.

  • Provide industry-level creative development, employment support & business incubation opportunities.

  • Provide access to workspace, production studios, investment, mentoring and showcasing opportunities.
