Our History

  • Founded in 2012, YCDT supports young carers prior to GCSE's for4-5 years through long-term mentoring, tutoring, providing study equipment and more. We currently work across the South West and South Wales, helping young carers overcome barriers, achieve their potential, and build brighter futures.

Beneficiaries

  • Children / Young People

Our beneficiaries are young carers aged 14–21 who support a disabled or ill relative. We provide long-term mentoring, group sessions, peer networks, and educational resources to boost wellbeing, reduce isolation, and help them achieve their potential

Our Vision for a better future

  • Our vision is a future where every young carer has the same opportunities as their peers, free from disadvantage. We aim to ensure young carers are supported to thrive in education, wellbeing, and careers—empowered to fulfil their potential and build positive futures beyond their caring role.

Our goals to make a difference

  • Young carers achieve their full potential through education, mentoring, and wellbeing support.

  • Young carers feel confident, resilient, and less isolated in their daily lives.

  • More young carers progress into higher education, training, or employment.

  • Young carers access the same opportunities as their non-caring peers.

  • Communities better understand and value the contribution of young carers.
