Our History

  • Zero is an alliance of social & environmental groups, educational institutions, and businesses, formed to build a community-led climate action plan to ensure Guildford achieves carbon neutrality by 2030, and to develop resources and skills that can be used by any community to build the frameworks needed to manage the climate and ecological crisis.

Beneficiaries

  • Children / Young People

Younger generations face the biggest threat from climate breakdown and ecological collapse. Faced with inadequate responses by global governments, we will empower young people to take ownership for developing strategies for a secure future.

  • Nature

We are building networks across the county to counter Surrey's declining biodiversity, building community collaboration to generate the wildlife corridors that support and restore the ecosystems which are crucial to the existence of life on earth.

  • Animals

We cannot maintain a habitable planet without extensive work to redefine our relationship with nature, and we will develop a community driven plan to protect, restore, and regenerate our local ecosystems and native species.

  • The General Public / Mankind

The climate crisis is the gravest threat humanity has faced, we will develop replicable strategies that any community can employ to mitigate and adapt to the myriad environmental and social threats associated with a changing planet.

Our Vision for a better future

  • We are building community cohesion to develop adaptation strategies to help us cope with a changing planet. We aim to build new models of living and working within planetary boundaries, with vulnerable residents at the centre of the plan, developing frameworks to counter climate-related food insecurity, social issues, and mental health crises.
