As a local organic vegetable farmer and business owner, I am writing to express my support for the Peterstone Wentlooge CBS’s Community Ownership Fund application and its proposals for a multipurpose community hub at the derelict Six Bells
Older people will benefit from a warm, social, inclusive space to enjoy coffee and cake, reducing loneliness. Our shop offers local goods and essentials. Volunteering opportunities will help provide purpose, routine, and connection to the community.
The visitor centre will raise awareness of the Gwent Levels’ unique wildlife and heritage. Through workshops, events and partnerships, we’ll tackle environmental neglect, promote conservation, and inspire pride and stewardship in the local landscape.
The community will gain a vibrant, inclusive space to meet, connect, and access services. Events, volunteering, and training will strengthen local bonds, reduce isolation, and foster pride, ownership, and long-term social and economic resilience.
Artists and craft makers will have a platform to showcase and sell their work. The hub will host creative workshops and cultural events, supporting local talent, boosting income, and increasing access to arts and heritage for all in the community.

The Six Bells is restored and preserved as a community-owned cultural asset, with sustainability at its core and access for future generations.
A thriving visitor and discovery centre promotes the Gwent Levels’ wildlife and heritage, inspiring pride in place and attracting eco-conscious tourism.

GWT believe that the Six Bells can play an important part in the continued rural life and future prosperity of the Gwent Levels and as such we support the campaign to secure this asset for the community.
