Our History

  • Since its inception in 2019, Shakti.ism remains committed to its mission to empower and employ disadvantaged women from marginalised communities. To date, we've created over 32,000 hours of employment for the incredible artisan women we partner with in India, Bangladesh and Nepal, and we're only just getting started.

Beneficiaries

  • Marginalised or vulnerable groups

Marginalised women are highly susceptible to gender-based violence, as there is so much stigma surrounding women’s societal and cultural roles and expectations. Groups we partner with include victims of violence, human trafficking, ethnic minorities

Our Vision for a better future

  • Shaktiism strives to create a safe environment where women can come to learn transferrable skills, gain meaningful and fair employment, and even start their own businesses. Every single purchase contributes to ongoing employment, a fair living wage, hope and opportunities for our artisan makers, their families, and communities.

Our goals to make a difference

  • Invest in women’s economic empowerment as a direct path towards gender equality

  • Invest in women’s economic empowerment as a direct path towards poverty eradication

  • Invest in women’s economic empowerment as a direct path towards inclusive economic growth

  • Contribute to the green economy by focusing on upcycling textiles to create new opportunities for women and a second-chance for pre-loved fabrics

  • Empower women from marginalised communities disproportionately affected by poverty, discrimination and exploitation, with the aim to eradicate violence (VAWG)
