Our History

  • Newport West Netball Club was set up in October 2021 after identifying a need for a safe environment for young girls and teenagers to play sport and netball in the area of Duffryn, South Wales. It is based in The John Frost School in Duffryn.

Areas of Operation

Beneficiaries

  • Children / Young People

Our club is committed to creating opportunities—especially for girls and young women. We support players to gain coaching and umpiring qualifications, helping them develop leadership skills and improve future prospects.

  • Adults

We will continue to encourage women back to netball, therefore improving the health and wellbeing of our members.

  • Marginalised or vulnerable groups

As a non-profit organisation, we are proud to keep netball affordable and accessible. By keeping costs low, we open our doors to people from deprived areas and diverse groups.

Our Vision for a better future

  • We are a diverse, inclusive netball club where young people and adults train together. We aim to support young women to gain coaching and umpiring qualifications and keep netball affordable so everyone, regardless of background, can play, grow, and thrive as part of our community.

Our goals to make a difference

  • To increase opportunities for young people to access recreational netball

  • To use as a vehicle for success to prevent young people from engaging in anti-social behaviour.

  • To close the gap between talented young people from deprived areas and their access to provision.

  • To offer opportunities for girls and women of all ages and backgrounds to train together and learn from each other, as a netball community.

  • To continue to operate as a non-profit organisation, therefore remaining affordable for players from deprived areas.
