Our History

  • Since its creation in 1989 Leyton Orient Trust has invested over £40 million in North and East London touching the lives of over 110,000 people in that time. Since its formation, the Trust has grown from delivering community sports activities into a respected organisation providing education, health, wellbeing and employability programmes.

Beneficiaries

  • Children / Young People

    We work with children and young adults coaching sport, PPA cover, mentoring, education and training programmes, Activities may be based at schools, sports facilities or parks in the community and neighbouring boroughs term time and holiday provision.

  • Elderly / Old People

    We work with elderly/old people on a project called community living room, funded this year by the National Lottery. It focuses on improving the health and wellbeing for local residents through a variety of social and physical activities.

  • Adults

    We deliver ‘Coping through Football’ Mental Health Treatment and Recovery Programme in partnership with London Playing Fields Foundation/NELMHT. Also Community Living Room for older adults, as well as Employability programmes for NEET 18-25yr olds.

  • Other Charities or Voluntary Bodies

    Partnerships include the National Lottery, EFL in the Community, Premier League Charitable Fund, Portal Trust

  • Student or learners

    We have been running BTEC Sport college study programmes for a number of years and have worked with the council to deliver a sports alternative provision programme. We also offer Higher Education Provision in Sports Coaching and Sports Business.

  • Unemployed

    We run the Training Ground Programme for NEET young people aged 16-25 and the Community Living Room is also accessed by unemployed older people, with volunteering opportunities.

  • People with Disabilities

    Be it a mental disability where beneficiaries can access Coping Thru Football, or physical disability where we have been delivering parasport sessions and events in schools. Also through the Premier League Fans Fund we support the disabled fan group.

  • Community

    We were involved in bringing together families from schools in the local community with a charity 'Run Kids Run' to organise a fun run, starting in the stadium and the local adjacent park. As previously mentioned providing the Community Living Room.

  • Homeless & ex convicts

    The Divert Project involves working in custody suites in Partnership with Bounce Back and the London Violence Reduction Unit to try to prevent those arrested from reoffending, providing information for services, employment, training, housing etc.

  • Carers

    The training ground programme can assist young carers or adult carers up to 25ys old with mentoring, information, advice and guidance for education, training and employment opportunities, as well as employability skills workshops.

  • People in poverty

    We provide a Holiday Activities and Food Programme with local boroughs that are free for the beneficiaries that live in these areas.

  • People Of A Particular Ethnic Or Racial Origin

    Premier League Fans Fund enables us to support club outreach and the development of diverse fan groups; including PunjabiO's, and MeshuganO's.

  • Marginalised or vulnerable groups

    As well as supporting club outreach for the development of fan groups for PunjabiO's and MeshuganO's(Jewish), we have also developed RainbO's(LGBTQI+), a Female and a disabled fan group.

  • The General Public / Mankind

    We help support the club with family zones on matchdays.

  • The Trust continues to evolve by responding to emerging social challenges and working collaboratively with partners to reduce inequalities and create opportunities for people of all ages. Our vision is dedicated to empowering individuals, strengthening communities and ensuring the positive influence of the Football Club extends far beyond matchday.
