Our History

  • DCL is a community based organisation founded by local residents in 1998. It has a record of accomplishment of direct delivery and working in strong partnerships in support of communities throughout the Duffryn area of Newport.

    Based on our community consultation we aim to support the whole of our community especially those in the greatest of need. DCL wants to coordinate a series of interventions to support a stronger community

Our Vision for a better future

  • DCL is dedicated to supporting the needs of the Tredegar Park community. It is documented that Duffryn is declared as a disadvantaged community within the WIMD. It is the aim of DCL to lessen the impact of deprivation throughout the area by delivering services and opportunities on the basis of supporting a prosperous, healthy, and safe community.

Our goals to make a difference

  • to support children & young people in their journey through education by providing support to schools & community settings to break down barriers to education

  • to continue to support food poverty needs throughout the community through our foodbank as well as ensuring we feed all our young people at our youth provisions

  • to support community participation in health & wellbeing with residents of all ages by promoting healthy and active lifestyles throughout the area

  • to promote social inclusion throughout the community by delivering social gatherings and support groups based on the communities needs for all ages

  • to support local households to deal with the current cost-of-living crisis
