We will use £30,000 over 1 year to establish a ground-breaking project in Newport which will provide up to 30 Roma young aged 16-25 years old with regular weekly music and drama-based cultural workshops, facilitated by experienced artists and community members. We will engage with a range of local organisations to secure representation at each and every workshop. The young people will engage successfully with cultural activities. The local economy will benefit from increased Roma engagement.
Working with local organisations and sports venues, our project will provide Roma men from Newport with a safe space in their local area to access a range of sporting opportunities so that the community can access a local sports venue and take part in mainstream sports. The regular weekly community activities will not only engage Roma in sports at local venues, it will also ensure that the Roma community engage with local sporting organisations and venues, thus also benefitting the local economy
