We will seek to connect new, under-served audiences (particularly those living in areas of green space deprivation) to nature - specifically with butterflies and moths - through the creation of Wild Spaces, within a Newport ‘hub’ and a network of ‘satellite’ sites across South Wales. Transformations will be achieved through capital works, community grants and volunteering sessions. Training workshops and events will also be delivered.
Match-funding to increase the chances of success of our bid to the NLHF; funding staff time for writing/submitting NLHF bid; short film highlighting opportunities of 'Wales Wild Spaces' project; Welsh translation of existing ‘Wild Space’ resources for distribution amongst organisations/communities in Newport and beyond, to inspire ‘Wild Space’ creation; funding of additional staff trip (travel costs and accommodation) to Newport to further consult with community groups/organisations.
