Voyage matches disadvantaged young people to paid work experience opportunities in a range of sectors to help them develop their skills, network and aspirations. These young people don't have the connections or know-how to find these places themselves while they hugely benefit from the experience. They are prepared for the placements through CV, interview and get-ready-for-work training. Placements are best suited for the summer months.
We offer 10-week BTEC programmes called Young Leaders for Safer Cities and Young Leaders for Sustainable Cities. These courses run on Saturdays and young people develop their knowledge and understanding of community safety and sustainability, culminating in a presentation on a solution for a project of their choice. Annually 100 14-year-olds join us for this programme, which is the start of a 3-year journey with us.
Voyage aims to establish a transformative Job Club for young people aged 16-21 in East London who are at risk of becoming NEET or have been involved with the criminal justice system. Hosted at New City College in Hackney, this initiative seeks to support over 100 disadvantaged youth annually, helping them to raise their aspirations, avoid criminal lifestyles and engage with the Horizons Youth Project for the Environment (HyPE) - an intensive course in renewable energy skills.
