How you can help us

  • Many young carers we support are from disadvantaged families, and we can offer them a Wellbeing Grant. Often we provide a laptop which helps with children's schoolwork. We purchase these and ship them to the family. We also get requests for white goods, bicycles, children's bedroom furniture for example. These grants can be up to £250 in value. If any of these items could be donated for free or at a reduced cost, that would be fantastic.

  • We offer opportunities for employees to visit our Respite Houses to help our operations team with the general upkeep, which we call ‘Green Days’. They are fun and productive days, where the planting of shrubs, bushes and trees at our seven-acre countryside sites contribute to environmental sustainability. Tasks could also include painting fences and general fixing and tidying. These take place at our respite houses in Hampshire, mid-Wales and Scotland.

How you can help us

  • We also offer ‘Shadowing Days’ which give volunteers a much more front-line experience with young carers. We allow up to three people to come and ‘shadow’ a member of the operations team during a respite break with a group of children. This gives you the full experience of helping the children with fun activities, taking part in games, preparing lunches in the kitchen and coming along on a trip.

  • ‘Memory Making Days’ are also very popular among our corporate partners. This is where a partner can take a group of deserving young carers on a trip to a theme park, the beach, or maybe somewhere different – we are always open to suggestions. We will help organise the day so a group of employees, along with Honeypot staff, can help the children create fun childhood memories.

How you can help us

  • We also host numerous events throughout the year including our popular comedy night, sporting challenges up and down the UK, and other events exclusive to our partners, which require support from volunteers on the day. We would welcome employees to help greet guests, cheer on runners, distribute water bottles, and other ad hoc roles which are integral to making our activities and events a huge success.
