The project will facilitate a series of workshops and courses to support health and wellbeing across Newport's most deprived areas. Subjects will focus on healthy eating and preparing warm nutritious meals, sewing skills to promote repairing and reusing garments, and cultural awareness through global festive crafts. The project will aim to engage with residents who are not currently accessing learning opportunities in Newport, breaking down barriers to opportunity and building confidence.
We are a newly created community football club within Newport. We are the Lliswerry Llizards FC Cic. Our aim is to provide a safe and inclusive environment where children are able to excel and play football. We have over 14 teams in our first season and are growing every month. We have over 170 players registered. Girls and boys teams and are looking to invest in facilities to offer more training and better coaching for the children. We will require additional equipment and improved facilities.
KickStart is a youth football project that engages children and young people in safe, structured sessions to keep them away from antisocial behavior. Through coaching, mentoring, and community activities, participants develop teamwork, confidence, and life skills. The project is inclusive, free, and works in partnership with local organisations to create lasting positive impact in the community.
Safe space for women and girls to increase their mood and overall mental wellbeing as well as their physical wellbeing by having access to a boxing and fitness gym. Our community is looking for funding to purchase new equipment to enhance our provision.
The Newport Place Programme, established in 2022, unites leaders from business, public sector, education, and charities to drive long-term change in Newport. Focused on tackling inequality and unlocking opportunities, the Board has secured over £500,000 to support community priorities. Achievements include a food hub delivering 1,200 meals monthly and support for Pillgwenlly. Business involvement is growing, benefiting over 7,000 people citywide.
A procession of Cassie, the Newport Mari Lwyd, through commercial street and High Street Newport for the maximum of two hours on Saturday, January the 10th, 2026, accompanied by people in fancy dress and the Widders Border dance group.
