Our project aims to make pantomime accessible to everyone by removing financial barriers, especially at Christmas time when many families face extra financial pressures. By funding free tickets for individuals and families who might otherwise be unable to attend, we will ensure more people across our community can share in the joy, laughter, and festive spirit of live theatre.
Create a community of volunteers to support the varied City wide events and programmes of Newport Live. These would include the large cultural and artistic events and the sporting events that take place within Newport each year. A second volunteering opportunity would see Volunteers being deployed to support Sporting and physical activity programmes within the Leisure facilities.
EESW have developed a new space themed workshop suitable for primary school KS2 pupils, with the aim of increasing coding skills. Following an introduction into the history of space exploration and satellites, using a microbit, pupils will create a 2 player game to help them train for the launch of a vital and secret mission, to prove they have the problem-solving skills needed to be a successful "Micronaut", including communication, teamwork and following instructions to learn basic coding.
We run skateboard lessons/workshops 12 forms of skateboard lessons per week for all abilities levels. Covering covering equlity, diversity and inclusion with our outreach work. Lessons are for ages 4 - 55 years. Workshop cover the community at large through community group links. We offer sessions that cater for scooters, rolle skates, bmx and balances bikes. A collaboration between Connor Allen, RedBrk, and Newport City Council, this project builds on their previous knife crime poetry video—already shared with local schools—to raise awareness and spark dialogue. The next phase will create a series of powerful, targeted films addressing key issues affecting Newport’s communities, including gang culture and drug use.
Celebrating and preserving the stories, contributions, and achievements of the Windrush generation and Commonwealth citizens in Wales. Through developing a digital resource featuring OBEs, sporting legends, musicians, educators, activists, and community leaders. We aim to inspire more diverse school sessions, honour their legacy, promote inclusivity, and build community pride. Stories will be digitally archived to ensure future generations can access and learn from this vital heritage.
