Current female toilet facilities are not fit for purpose and are insufficient to serve the number of females who attend activities. This project would create additional toilets in a fit for purpose space.
This will be the first of its kind in Newport to have a Multi Faith Iftar event organised by the volunteers of Celtic Tigers Sports Club. The project will bring together people of all faith in our community to celebrate iftar, the breaking of fasting and gaining knowledge on the following:- 1. Health benefits of fasting and keeping active. 2. Give insights from other religions of how they fast. 3. Bring the community together to promote inclusions and get better understanding of each other.
Newport Saracens is a club on the up. With success on the field and a warm welcome in the club house, our player and support base has seen rapid growth. To better accommodate visitors, along with the hope of offering more to those that need it, NSRFC is seeking funding support to improve access and light to the club house and Playing areas. Access is currently across uneven ground, which gets boggy over the winter. We wish to install a firm, flat base and path with better lighting.
Our inshore lifeboat kindly donated 10 years ago by the family of Maureen Easton and named after her, needs a full refurbishment in 2026, to enable the station to be able to continue to provide ongoing search and rescue service support to local Coastguard, Fire and Police services. Newport station was the busiest SARA station in 2024 responding to 50 callouts. We are entirely self funded, with a crew of 15 covering all disciplines including funding raising for ongoing expenses and capex funds.
We are hoping to offer the local community our clubhouse as a community hub this winter to help run family activities, advice and social sessions for the elderly, a meeting space for community groups. The community hub can be used as a warm hub, foodbank provision and indoor safe space for local groups and individuals in need.
Access to mental health support is a growing challenge in Newport and across Wales. Many people from minority communities face extra barriers when seeking help. From language and cultural differences to a lack of trust in mainstream services. At the same time, mental health services are under pressure, with workforce shortages and a lack of culturally competent practitioners. The Community Mental Health Support Bank (CMHSB) aims to address both issues simultaneously.
