We are hoping to run a summer sessions programme over Beechwood Park in this year. 5 music events plus other performances including dance and drama. The event will be free to attend and the start of an annual experience offering amateur and aspiring musicians, comedians, dancers and live performers the chance to entertain in the scenery of Beechwood Park. The summer sessions will take place during 6 weeks holidays.
We are hoping to run a number of Sport in the Park events in Beechwood Park in Newport this summer. We are planning three events: Sport in the Park - A day long event of multiple sports & fun games working in partnership with Newport Live Sports Day - A traditional sports day event for children & young teenagers including fun races, obstacle courses, mixed aged and relays Sport Taster Sessions - A day of taster sessions of sports around the park including tennis, golf, athletics, rugby
Maindee Festival is the only free annual community arts festival in Newport. This year our theme is Fresh Air and we'll be exploring issues around air pollution in Maindee and across Newport. Our community arts workshops, which will run throughout June in the run up to the event ,will create giant items for our carnival parade like clouds, hot air balloons and kites, while participants learn about the effect of air pollution and what's happening in Newport to address it.
MindSpace: is a project by CultureMindsUK. The project provides ongoing discussions and training on mental health awareness in minority communities for men and women. This is a transforming space for conversations, and knowledge/skills acquisition. MindSpace has hosted MH awareness training sessions in partnership with a recognised trainer, and certificates issued for free. Over 80 persons (men and women) in Newport are expected to be trained in mental health awareness by end of October 2025.
